STOCK THE PANTRY

Sinclair Communications Radio Stations, East West Communities and Sasser Construction have partnered together to "Stock the Pantry" for the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is one of the area distributors for the Southeastern and the Peninsula food banks. They help feed thousands of people in our community each year. "Stock The Pantry" will assure that area children eat during the summer months. These children normally get two meals a day at school. Now that school is not in session, they do not have those meals provided.

We are extending a challenge to all the businesses in Hampton Roads to collect non-perishable food items. The business that collects the most foods will win a catered party for up to 40 people. The party will take place at "The Riverfront" in northern Suffolk in the beautifully decorated Southern Living Showcase Home. The winning business will also receive up to 40, one-month memberships to Golds Gym.

Rules and regulations for Stock The Pantry Business Challenge

1. The challenge starts June 8th and runs through July 5th.

2. Barbara Mealey must be called 24 hours ahead of time to schedule your food drop offs. She can be reached at 757- 222-2924.

3. Please have number of items collected, your business name, a contact person and phone number when you drop off your collected items.

4. Prizes can not be exchanges for cash or other prizes.

5. Prizes are non-transferable.

6. Entries must be in and accounted for at 12 noon on July 5th to be eligible to win .

7. Winner will be chosen strickly by number of items collected.

You can help the Salvation Army feed children in need and enjoy some old world charm all at the same time. During the month of June, come for a tour of the beautifully decorated Southern Living Showcase Home in The Riverfront in northern Suffolk and bring along a non-perishable canned or packaged food to help "Stock the Pantry." There will be a storage POD on-site for the effort, and the goal is to have it entirely filled by the end of the month. For everone that drops off a can good you will recieve a free week member ship to Gold Gym and be entered into a drawing to hava a FREE catered party by Harris Teeter for up to 20 people at the Souther Living Home or pool!

During the school year, children in need are assured two meals a day at school. Summer is now upon us, and those children need your help. This is an easy and fun way that you can make a big difference for these kids in Hampton Roads.

The fully furnished Southern Living Showcase Home is open to the public through August 31, Monday through Saturday 11:00 to 4:00 and Sunday 12:00 to 4:00. To tour the home and help "Stock the Pantry", come to 3002 North James Drive in The Riverfront during the month of June. The community is located in the Harbour View area of northern Suffolk, off I-664, just south of the Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel.
