On Thursday, December 08th, at approx. 1:00 am, the alarm sounded at CE Nix and Son, Inc., located in the 2300 blk. of County St. Upon police arrival, the front glass was found broken. It appears that once inside, suspect(s) removed a 20 inch color TV before leaving.

On Wednesday, December 7th, employees reported a burglary to the Portsmouth Foot and Ankle Specialists, located in the 3600 blk. of High St. It appears that sometime between Monday, December 5th, through Wednesday the 7th, unknown suspect pried the front glass window to the office, and removed the cash drawer containing assorted checks and cash.

On Tuesday, December 6th, at approx. 6:50 pm, as an employee for Check into Cash, located in the 5900 blk. of High St., W., was leaving to make a cash drop, 2 armed suspects forced the employee back into the business. One suspect stayed in the front of the store, while the 2nd ordered the employee to the back of the store, and took the money bag from the employee. Both suspects then fled, and no one was hurt.

Portsmouth Police need your help in solving an attempt commercial robbery, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Wednesday, December 7th, at approx. 12:35 pm, an armed suspect entered the ABC store, located in the 1100 blk. of London Blvd., brandished a revolver, and ran behind the counter demanding money. The lone employee inside was able to lock himself in the rear of the store before the suspect was able to get behind the counter. The suspect then left without any money. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored bomber jacket with fur around the hood, 5’8-5’9, slim, jeans and had a formfitting surgical mask that he held up to his face when he ran inside the business. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving several commercial burglaries, robberies, and grand larcenies, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed.

On Thursday, November 3rd, owner for Captain Earls Inc., located in the 700 blk. Yorktown Ave., arrived at work to find the side window broken to the business. This allowed the suspect(s) to gain entry, and once inside, the cash register was emptied. The suspect(s) located a key to a Pepsi machine, and removed the cash and coins from inside as well before leaving.

On Friday, November 4th, at approx. 7:15 pm, a female suspect entered the Dollar General, located in the 3900 blk. Twin Pines Rd., Churchland, picked up a new trash can, and filled it up with assorted items. The suspect then proceeded to the front of the store, claiming that she needed help with the items. The suspect then exited the store without paying for these items. As the clerk followed the suspect to her car, a male sitting in the car brandished a weapon towards the clerk, and threatened her if she came any closer. The clerk then went back inside, and no one was hurt. The female is being described as a b/f, 35-45, 5’6-58, 150-200 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black shirt, dark pants, and a black wave cap. The male suspect is being described as a b/m, in his 20’s.

On Friday, November 4th, at approx. 11:45 pm, 2 suspects entered the Bronx Food Mart, located in the 4100 blk. George Washington Hgwy, displayed weapons, and demanded money from the employee in the front of the store. Once they had the money from the first employee, they ordered the employee to get more money from a 2nd employee in the rear of the store. After getting the cash from the 2nd employee, they both fled the store after locking the 2 employees in the back room. No one was hurt. Both suspects are being described as b/m’s 20’s, 5’6-5’8, 150 lbs., and both wore dark clothing.

On Saturday, November 5th, at approx. 11:15 pm, the alarm sounded at the Twine Memorial Holy Temple, located in the 1400 blk. County St. When police arrived, they saw that the suspect was still inside, and set up a perimeter. Once the situation was under control, the suspect inside was taken into custody. While inside, he tore away the alarm panels, and set aside a VCR and cables. He gained entry by breaking out a back window with a brick, and removed the metal grate. The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are pending.

On Tuesday, November 8th, at approx. 6:30 am, police found the Zippy Mart, located in the 3400 blk. Hartford St., had been broken into. The suspect(s) broke the front glass door, then pried the metal bars away to allow entry. Once inside, suspect(s) took cash and 8 cartons of Newport cigarettes. Note: police checked this business at approx. 4:00 am, and found it to be free from damage.

Portsmouth Police need your help in solving some unsolved murders for 2005, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed.

On January 11, 2005, a family member went to check on 33 year old Anthony L. Butler, who resided in the 500 blk. of Columbia St., in Olde Towne, and did not show up for work. Upon forced entry, Butler was found shot. He had been dead for some time.

On June 20, 2005, at approx. 2:20 am, Forice L. McFarland, 37 years of age was found in the 500 blk. of Jefferson St., Southside in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He had died at the scene. Police had been called to the area in reference to a female who had been assaulted when McFarland was found.

On June 20, 2005, at approx. 9 pm, 28 year old Terrance V. Wilson, a resident of Virginia Beach, was leaving his business in the 2300 blk. Rodman Ave., when he was approached by possibly 3 suspects. At some point, the victim was shot, and died as a result of this shooting.

Portsmouth Police need your help in solving several commercial burglaries, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed.

On Saturday, October 15th, at approx. 5 am, a citizen passing by the Circle Restaurant, located in the 3300 blk. of High St., observed a suspicious male inside the business, and called police. When police arrived, they found the front door window had been broken, and items behind the bar were in disarray. It appears that the suspect had removed several bottles of assorted wines, and liquors.

On Saturday, October 15th, at approx. 7:30 am, a uniformed officer found the front security door to the In-a-Hurry, located in the 3300 blk. of Turnpike Rd., had been pulled away. Upon further investigation, police found the front glass door had also been broken, allowing suspects to enter the business. It is unknown at this time what items were taken.

On Saturday morning, October 15th, the owner of the Chesapeake Bay Diving Center, located in the 600 blk. of Mt. Vernon Ave., returned to work, and discovered the back chain- link gate had been cut allowing suspect(s) to enter. It appears that after the business had closed the night before, a Johnson 150 HP outboard motor valued at approx. $10,000 had been taken from the back compound.

On Sunday, October 16th, at around 4:15 am, uniformed officers had routinely checked the Gitgo Food Mart, located in the 1600 blk. of Rodman Ave., and knew it to be secure and free from damage. When the owner arrived for work at approx. 6:15 am, it was discovered that the front plexi-glass had been pulled away from the front door allowing suspects to enter the business. Once inside, the suspect(s)took 30 assorted cartons of cigarettes.

Portsmouth Police need your help in solving several commercial burglaries and a destruction of property to a downtown business, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed.

On October 20th, at approx. 9 am, the owner for Jac’s Caribbean Restaurant, located in the 5900 blk. Churchland Blvd., found the front doors partially open allowing entry into the business. Once inside, the owner found that the cash register was the target of the burglary. Suspect(s) exited through the rear screen door.

On Friday, October 21st, an employee for the Super Family Thrift Store, located in the 5800 blk. W. Norfolk Rd., in Churchland, arrived at approx. 9 am, and found the front glass missing from the business. It appears that the molding was peeled away in order to remove the windows allowing entry into the business. The target item again was cash.

On Saturday, October 22nd, employees for the Dow Construction, located in the 800 blk. Portcentre Pkwy., arrived at 6:30 am, and found window damage to a company vehicle, and several broken windows to the business.

On Monday, June 6th, at approx. 2:46 am, the alarm sounded at the Salem and Sons, which is located in the 3300 blk. Victory Blvd., near the Victory Crossing and the Cavalier Manor section of the city. When police arrived, they found the front glass door had been smashed in order to gain entry. Once the suspect(s) were inside, they took approx. 50 cartons of Newport cigarettes, and then fled the business. On Monday, May 23rd, at approx. 8:00 am, 3 city vehicles, and 1 personally owned vehicle of a city worker which were parked in the County St. parking garage, top floor, in the 300 blk. of County St., were found to have broken windows. The three city vehicles were unmarked police vehicles. All of them had been ransacked. At this time, it appears that nothing was taken. On Friday, May 13th, at approx. 11:15 am, a lone suspect entered the Northern Star Credit Union, located in the 5100 blk. of George Washington Hgwy., waited in line until a teller was available, and displayed a note demanding money. While the teller was giving the suspect the cash, the suspect kept his hand in his pocket to suggest that he may be armed. Once the clerk complied with the suspect's demands, he left the business, and no one was hurt. He is being described as a b/m, in his 20's, 5'8, 160 lbs., and was last seen wearing a white hat, jean jacket, and blue jeans, which were found not far from the bank. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a commercial robbery to a local Dollar General Store, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Tuesday, May 10th, at approx. 8:30 pm, a lone suspect waited in the stock room of the Dollar General Store, located in the 3100 blk. Airline Blvd., until the business closed. When a clerk went to the rear of the business to turn off the lights, the suspect approached her, and forced her and another employee into the office, where one clerk was to open the safe and give him the money. Once he had the cash, he fled the business, and no one was hurt. Suspect is only being described as a b/m, 5'9, with a thin gray beard. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a commercial burglary, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Thursday morning, May 12th, at approx. 4:30 am, a patrol officer heard an alarm sounding in the 4000 blk. of Portsmouth Blvd., near Alexander's Corner. Upon further investigation, the officer discovered the front glass door to CBR Electronic's broken out, which is located at 4231 Portsmouth Blvd. Once the business was checked clear of any suspects, it was discovered that 5 CD-radio systems were taken. Brands include Alpine, Clorion, JBL, JVC, and Panasonic. It appears that the suspects had left moments prior to the officer arriving on scene. Since Saturday, April 9th, through Friday, April 15th, several cases of residential burglaries have been reported in the Cradock section of our city. Streets that have been targeted are Cushing St., Farragut St., Harris Rd., Suburban Circle, and Victory Blvd. Items taken have included cash/checks, assorted jewelry, DVD players, assorted DVD's, cell phones, power tools, collectors knives/swords, several assorted handguns, a shotgun, and assorted ammunition for these weapons, and leather jackets. It appears that these homes have been burglarized during the day time, and suspect(s) have gained entry through back and side windows. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a commercial robbery to a local fast food restaurant, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Tuesday, April 5th, at around 1:00 am, employees were closing the Church’s Chicken, which is located in the 300 blk. of Effingham St., in Olde Town Portsmouth, when they were approached by an armed suspect. The employees were ordered back into the restaurant, where one employee was forced to give up cash from the business. At this time, a second suspect entered the business, and kept an eye on the other employees while the money was being retrieved. Once they had the money, they both fled the business. No one was hurt. Both suspects are being described as b/m’s, in there 20’s, 5’10-5’11, and were last seen wearing black jackets, black pants, and both wore a white rag over a portion of their faces. Since Monday, March 28th, several vehicles have been spray painted in the Downtown and Olde-Towne section of our city. Victims have reported that their vehicles have vulgar words/phrases, and or the letters “YNIC” on them, and that they have been spray painted with red and black spray paint. Streets targeted have been Columbia St., Court St., Crawford St., Green St., and North St. If you have any information concerning this case or about any other crime, give the program a call. Since Friday, March 25th, through Sunday, March 27th, several families reported acts of vandalism in the Cradock area. The street targeted was between the 1 blk. of Alden Ave., through the 30 blk. of Alden Ave. Four vehicles, one utility trailer, one home, and Cradock Middle School were all spray painted with silver spray paint. On Thursday, March 17th at approximately 5:30pm, a lone suspect entered the Youngs Beauty Supply, located in the 1900 blk. Victory Blvd., and demanded money from the employee. The suspect then displayed a weapon, but the suspect refused to give him the money. The suspect and employee began to struggle, when the employee was knocked to the ground. The suspect then fled the business with out any money. The employee was not hurt. Any one with any information should contact crime line.

On Thursday, March 10th, at around 11:20 am, a lone suspect entered the Chanello’s Pizza, located in the 3200 blk. High St., and placed an order for a pizza. Moments later, the suspect approached the counter, displayed a weapon, and demanded money from the register. Once he had the cash, he quickly apologized, and fled the business on foot. No one was hurt. He is being described as a b/m, 20-25 years of age, 5’10, and was last seen wearing a black bomber jacket with fur around the hood. Police believe that this same suspect robbed the Rite-Aid Drug store, located in the 1100 blk. of London Blvd., last Thursday. These 2 businesses are less than a mile apart. Since Saturday, March 5th, 14 reports have come in involving damage to windshields, and side windows of vehicles in the Churchland section of our city. Streets involved have included Shipwright St., Colonial Rd., Bingham Rd., Shannon Rd., Augustine Circle, Fleet Ct., and Silver Maple Rd. It doesn’t appear that anything has been taken from these vehicles, and police have no motive or suspects. On Thursday, March 3rd, at approx. 7:30 PM, a lone suspect entered the Rite-Aid Drug Store, located in the 1100 blk. London Blvd., produced a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk at the checkout counter. The suspect told the clerk that he did not want to hurt her, but that he needed money to feed his kids, then exited the store with the cash. No one was hurt. He is being described as a b/m, 20-25, 5’10, and was last seen wearing a black bomber jacket with fur around the hood. Over the weekend of Friday, February 25th, through Saturday, February 26th, several reported acts of vandalism occurred in the Peachtree section and the Long Point sections in Churchland. Two reports of mailboxes being totally destroyed were reported on Harvest Ct. Five autos, and one fence was spray painted with black spray paint in the 3800 blk. of Long Point, and the 4000 blk. of Ebbtide Ln. One vehicle and the side of an apartment building were shot at numerous times in the 3600 blk. of Gateway Dr. No one was injured in any of these events. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving their latest homicide, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Monday, February 21st, at approx. 9: 30 PM, citizens contacted police in reference to a man found lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. When police arrived in the 1500 blk. Des Moines Ave., the Prentis Park Section of our city, there they found 25-year-old Tyrone Griffin. Griffin was taken to a local hospital but later died. Griffin was a Portsmouth resident, and police are still looking for his killer. If you have any information concerning this case or any other crime, give the program a call. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a rash of burglaries in the Cradock section, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Friday, January 28th, between the hours of 8:30 am through 7: 00 pm, unknown suspect or suspects burglarized several homes in the Cradock area. Homes that were broken into were located on Irwin St., Harris Rd., Morris St., and Bainbridge Rd. Items taken included assorted jewelry, cash, DVD’s, a handgun, and an X-box system. Suspect(s) broke out windows in order to gain entry into the homes.


Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a commercial burglary to a local beauty salon, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. Owners of the Far East Beauty Salon and Spa, located in the 3100 blk. Tyre Neck Rd., in Churchland, found their back door had been kicked in on Monday, January 24th at approx. 10:30 AM. The business had been secured the day before according to the owner. It appears that once inside, suspect or suspects forced in the door to the storage room, and took assorted hair sprays, hair gels, and approx. five flat irons. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving vandalism to a local Elementary School, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Monday, January 17th, employees for the Churchland Elementary School, located in the 5600 blk. Michael Ln., found that suspect or suspects broke into the school sometime over the weekend. Once inside, suspect(s) proceeded to dump out cartons of milk onto the floor, ran through the halls, and removed poster hanging on the walls. At this time, it appears that nothing was taken. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving our first murder for the year, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Tuesday, January 11th, shortly before 10:00 am, a family member of 33 year old Anthony L. Butler, who resided in the 500 blk. of Columbia St., responded to his home when he failed to show up for work. The family member forced his way inside, and found Butler on the floor, dead from a gunshot wound.


Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a burglary to a local convenient store, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Wednesday morning, January 12th, at 1: 06 am, suspect kicked out the plexiglas door to the Citgo Food Mart, which is located in the 1600 blk. Rodman Ave. Once inside, the suspect removed approx. 28 cartons of Newport Cigarettes before leaving. When police arrived, they found a few packs of Newports in and out of the store, along with the suspect’s gloves.

Sometime during the evening hours of Monday, January 3rd, suspect or suspects slashed automobile tires in the 3600 through the 3900 blks. of Clifford St., as well at the 1100 blk. of Powhatan Ave. And today, Wednesday, January 26th, reports have also come in from the 3500 blks. of Gum Dr., along with the 200 blk. Choate St. in reference to the same types of vandalism. Police believe that juveniles may be involved and that these all may be related. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving 2 related incidents involving BB guns, and remember, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. On Thursday, December 30th, and again on Saturday, January 8th, two individuals were shot at by a subject with a BB gun. The first incident began around 9 pm when the victim was riding a go-cart in the 500 blk. of Maupin Ave. Two suspects rode past on bicycles, and shot the victim in the shoulder with the BB gun, and shot at him again approx. 20 minutes later when the same two suspects rode past in an older white Altima. Then 2nd incident began in the 100 blk. Chowan Dr., shortly after 6 pm. On Friday, December 10th, at around 8 PM, an 18 year old motorist, driving a 1999 4 dr. silver Honda Accord, was at the intersection of Victory Blvd., and George Washington Hgwy., when 2 suspects exited a late model white 4 dr. Acura, and began shooting into the Honda, striking the driver. The driver was taken to Sentara Norfolk General where he recovered from his injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police know that there were many witnesses to this case, along with a Crime Line caller, and are asking them to re-contact either Det. On Saturday, August 21st, at approx. 9: 30 PM, a lone suspect entered the Best Value Inn & Suites, located in the 300 blk. Effingham St., and began to fill out registration card. Before finishing the form, the suspect then told the clerk that this was a robbery, implied that he had a gun, and to give up the money. The clerk then handed him the cash drawer, and the suspect grabbed the money and fled on foot. No one was hurt. Suspect is being described as a b/m, 45 years of age, 5’9-5’11, 180-195 lbs., was last seen wearing blue sweatpants, gray t-shirt with an American flag on it, a blue ball cap with a Nike symbol, and had a fanny pack on. In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 15th, at approx. 2 AM, an employee was taking a break outside of the Church’s Chicken, located in the 300 blk. Effingham St., when 2 suspects approached him, and forced him back into the business. One produced a saw-off shotgun, and demanded money from the business. Once they had the cash, they fled on foot. No one was hurt. Both suspects are being described as b/m’s, 18-21, 5’8-5’9, 120-150 lbs. One was wearing blue jeans, Ram’s jersey, and navy blue shoes, and the second was wearing blue shorts, white t-shirt, and white Nike’s. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving larceny from autos in the Westhaven and Oregon Acres areas of our city, by calling Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-u-up, your identity is never revealed. Since early July, nine larcenies from autos have reported to police involving both locked and unlocked vehicles. Streets targeted have been Scott St., South St., Columbia St., Race St., Griffin St., Wyoming and Kansas Ave. Items taken include wallets, purses, cash, credit cards, checks, ATM cards, stereo systems, and CD’s.


Portsmouth Police need your help in solving a recent grand larceny to a local antique shop in the downtown area. On Monday, May 31, Memorial Day, at approx. 2: 00 PM, 2 suspects entered the Way Back Yonder Antiques, which is located in the 600 block. High St., and began to walk around. During their visit, the suspects split up, one distracting the owner while the 2nd suspect removed 2 prints from the wall, and then left the business. One oil painting that was removed was a 10 x 14 Eanor “Boy in Red Jacket”, signed by Joseph Jon Eanor, circa 1779, and the 2nd print was a 10 x 14 Pink & Blue Box P. It appears that these 2 suspects may have done this before and may be targeting antique stores in the Hampton Roads area. The 1st suspect is being described as a w/f, middle aged, blond hair with an older 40’s style that curled under all the way around her head. Portsmouth Police need your help in solving recent commercial break-ins in a Churchland area shopping center. Beginning at approx. 4: 30 am, on Wednesday, May 9th, the alarm went off at the Davidson Beauty Systems, which is located in the 3200 block of Academy Ave. When police arrived, they found the front glass window broken. Once inside the business, the suspect or suspects removed the cash register drawer before fleeing. Once this business was secured, police began to check other businesses in the area, and found that Jones’ Restaurant, and Budget Tire and Automotive, which are located in the 5800 block. W. Norfolk Rd., and D & A Scrapbooks, which is located in the 5700 block Churchland Blvd. had been broken into. Again, suspects were looking for money from each of these businesses, and took cash register drawers from all except Jones’ Restaurant. On Wednesday, May 5th, at approx. 11:30 AM, an elderly female was placing groceries in the truck of her vehicle in the parking lot of 1900 Victory Blvd., when a vehicle pulled up, and a suspect exited the vehicle, grabbed the purse off of the victim causing the victim to fall to the ground, then fled the scene in the same vehicle. The victim had minor injuries, but could not provide too much information other than the suspect was a b/m. Taken was a tan purse, black wallet containing the victim’s driver’s license, and money, a checkbook, and two sets of keys. The suspect is being described as a b/m, 5’6, 150 lbs., wore black clothing, had a mask covering part of his face and was armed with a black handgun. Once the owner arrived, he found that the suspect(s) were able to remove approx. $2,300 worth of car amplifiers and approx. $250 worth of sound deadening material from the front of the business before fleeing the scene. Deep Creek Blvd. Two vehicles that were parked in the 200 blk. Edison Ave., had a window broken out in order to gain entry. Both vehicles were ransacked, and one had walkie-talkies and assorted CD’s taken. Two unlocked vehicles that were parked in the 3500 blk. of Fulton St., had stereo equipment/speakers/and amplifiers removed. The last vehicle was parked in the 100 blk. Baldwin Ave., in which suspect(s) gained entry by breaking a window, and once inside, ransacked the vehicle and damaged the steering column and signal switches as well. On Friday, March 26, shortly before midnight, 2 armed suspects went to the 280 blk. Webster Ave., the Parkview area of our city, knocked on the victim’s door, and asked for Mike. When the victim opened the door wider, the 2 suspects forced their way inside, and began demanding the whereabouts of ecstasy as well as the money. The victim tried to assure the suspects that they had the wrong place, when a struggle ensued, and 2 shots were fired. Fortunately, no one was hit by the gun fire, and the suspects fled, possibly seen leaving in a dark SUV. One suspect is being described as a b/m, 22, 6’-6’2, 160-170 lbs., wore a white t-shirt, black coat, jeans, hat, had bumps on his face, crooked teeth and nappy hair. The second suspect is being described as a b/m, 5’8-5’9, 150-160 lbs., wore dark clothing and had dreads in his hair. On Thursday, March 25th, starting at approx. 7 pm, and ending at 8:45, 3 cases of armed robberies were reported in which 2 suspects, armed with shotguns went to 3 different locations, demanding money. The first case was reported in the 1100 blk. Chestnut St.,and Randolph St., where the first victim was sitting inside his vehicle, and was approached by 2 armed suspects who ordered the victim to give up his money. After complying, both suspects fled, possibly in a white or silver older model Honda with tinted windows. The second case happened in the 1600 blk. Maple Ave., where 2 armed suspects knocked on the victim’s door. When the victim opened the door, one suspect struck the victim, then entered his home, and took a playstation and DVD player, and left. The third case happened in the 3200 blk. Tyre Neck Rd., where the victim was approached by 2 armed suspects, demanding money. The victim complied, and both suspects again fled the area. Suspects have been described as b/m, 5’8-5’10, 140-150 lbs., wore jeans, or dark clothing, or red or white shirts, or a dark jacket, but all were armed with shotguns. Once they realized that the clerk could not produce the keys to the safe, they took the cash from the register and fled the business. No one was hurt. One suspect is being described as a b/m, 6’0, 160-180 lbs., wore a black jacket and jeans. The second suspect is being described as a b/m, 5’8-5’10, 160-180 lbs., and was last seen wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. Both had a bandanna covering a portion of their faces. On Sunday, March 14th, at approx. 8:45 PM, 3 suspects entered a home in the 3500 blk. Turnpike Rd., carrying weapons, identifying themselves as Portsmouth Police, and demanded money. After everyone inside was ordered to lay on the floor, the suspects proceeded to each room looking for money. After a brief stay, the suspects fled out of the back door. Nothing was taken. One suspect is being described as a b/m, 20’s, 5’10-6’0, 150-180 lbs., wore dark clothing, and was carrying what looked to be an AK-47. The second suspect is being described as a b/m, 20’s, 5’7-5’9, 150-160 lbs., wore black pants, black t-shirt with “POLICE” on it, green army jacket, and was carrying a chrome handgun. The third suspect is being described as a b/m, 20’s, 5’8-5’10, 180-190 lbs., wore all black clothing, had a silver police badge hanging around his neck, and was armed with a shotgun. In the early morning hours of Sunday, February 22nd, while Cornell T. Lamb, 44, was in the 1100 block of Virginia Ave., the London Oaks section of Portsmouth, he received a gunshot wound to his leg. The Portsmouth resident was found by police who responded to gunshots being fired in the area, and was taken to Sentara Norfolk General. Lamb died the next day from his injury. Sometime Wednesday night, February 18th, unknown suspect or suspects spray painted 2 of the police vehicles while they were parked near their homes in the Churchland section of our city. The first vehicle, which was parked in the 4800 blk. Wycliff Rd., was found to have the passenger side tires, passenger rims and the passenger rear quarter panel spray painted. The second vehicle, which was parked in the 3800 blk. Goose Bay Dr., was found to have the driver’s side spray painted with brown and white paint.
