![]() Unsolved RobberyOn Sunday, December 30th at 12:30 P.M. the victim was withdrawing money from the ATM at the Navy Federal Credit Union located at 7979 Hampton Blvd. As the victim withdrew an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency out of the ATM machine, the suspect approached him from behind and put a handgun into the victim’s back. The suspect demanded the money and the victim complied. The suspect then fled southbound on Hampton Blvd in a green 2-door Chevy Cavalier. No tag information was obtained. The suspect has been described as a B/M, 5’7”, 150 lbs., early 20’s to early 30’s.Fallen Officer Memorial FundsA number of concerned employees from throughout the city have called requesting information on memorial funds for the family of Officer Stanley C. Reaves. CAPITAL MURDER SUSPECT SOUGHT
Thomas Alexander Porter, B/M, 29 yrs Old, 6’, 240 Lbs
Frequents the areas of the 3700 blk. Pepperwood Court, Portsmouth; and the 8600 blk Glenn Myrtle Avenue, City of Norfolk On October 28, 2005 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Norfolk Police Officer, Stanley Cornell Reaves was shot while attempting to interview a subject in the 2700 block of DeBree Avenue. Officer Reaves was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died of his injuries. Norfolk Police have identified the suspect involved in the shooting as Thomas Alexander Porter B/M, 29 Years Old, whose last known address was in the 200 block of Beechwood Avenue in the City of Norfolk. Porter is described as a light to medium skinned black male. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 240 pounds and has a close cut hair-style. Porter, pictured right, was last seen wearing a brown knit cap, a brown hooded sweatshirt, and tan sweat pants. Porter has warrants on file for Capital Murder of a Police Officer, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Porter has been known to frequent the areas of the 3700 blk. Pepperwood Court, Portsmouth; and the 8600 blk Glenn Myrtle Avenue, City of Norfolk. Porter should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have information on a homicide that occurred on 10/9/05 on the corner of Va. Beach Blvd. and Chapel St.
The victim, Jerome Michael Tyree (pictured right), 21, 700 Blk Quail St., Chesapeake, was shot while on the corner. He was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later. Anyone with information on this murder is asked to call the Norfolk Crime Line. Suspect With Stolen Credit Card Sought

Police Seek Help Identifying Robbery SuspectsNorfolk Police are seeking help identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred to an indivudal in the 200 Blk East Little Creek Rd. on Wednesday 10/5 at approximately 9:45 A.M. The victim was preparing to make a deposit at a local bank when the suspects robbed her of an undisclosed amount of United States Currency. The suspects were captured on a surveillance camera at the Kroger’s Grocery earlier in the morning. That video is available. The victim was not injured during the robbery. Ocean View Ave. occurred in the parking lot of the Platinum Club at approximately 2:00 A.M. following an altercation between the victim and suspect. The victim was pronounced dead enroute to the hospital. The victim has been identified as Kaief L. Investigators have secured warrants for Murder & Use of a Firearm against Glenn S. Sanderlin (left), 21, 2100 Blk Kimball Circle, Va. Beach. Sanderlin is described as a B/M 5’10”, 155 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. He should be considered ARMED & DANGEROUS.
A 2nd SUSPECT is being sought for Murder & Use of a Firearm in connection with this homicide: Thomas Moyler Jr.(right), B/M 27, DOB 2/24/78, 1800 Blk John Brown Lane, Va. Beach. Moyler is described as 5’7” tall, 160 lbs., black hair, brown eyes. Moyler should be considered ARMED & DANGEROUS. Grand Larcenies - Residence InnNorfolk Police are investigating a series of Grand Larcenies to the Residence Inn in the 1500 Blk of N. Military Highway. The most recent of which occurred on August 14, 2005 at which time 4 suspects 2 W/M’s, 1 B/M and 1 B/F entered the hotel through a rear door. The two W/M’s then entered a weight room as the other suspects acted as lookouts. 2 W/M’s proceeded to steal a plasma TV valued at $5,000.00 that had been hanging in the weightroom. On July 21, 2005 police responded to a gunshot victim in the 900 Blk of Quail St. Upon arriving officers located an adult black male suffering from a gunshot wound lying on the ground. The victim, later identified as Terrell Stewart from Va. Beach, was pronounced at the scene. Investigators have identified Robert Oliver, 25, 1900 Blk Southhaven Dr. as the suspect. He is currently wanted for Murder and Robbery. Oliver is described as 5’8”, 170 lbs, long black dreadlocks and brown eyes. Oliver frequents Shooters, 6200 Blk. Sewells Point Rd. and 900 Blk South Quail Street. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS.

Two Men Wanted In Smoke Shack Property TheftOn September 12, 2005 at approximately 2:00 P.M. two unknown B/M suspects entered the Smoke Shack on 1778 East Little Creek Rd. the two suspects stole merchandise valued over $200.00 and fled the store. TWO MEN WANTED IN SHOOTING
UNSOLVED MURDEROn July 23, 2005 at approximately 0530 hours a Grey 2005 Toyota Camry with North Carolina Tags SWW 3506 was found unoccupied and on fire in the 3100 block of Bapaume Avenue off Lafayette Blvd in the City of Norfolk. The cause of the fire was ruled arson. This vehicle was wanted in connection with the Homicide of Terrell Stewart which occurred on July 21, 2005 in the 900 block of Quail Street, City of Norfolk. July 8, 2005 - Murder Suspects Identified
BANK ROBBERYOn Tuesday, June 14th at approximately 1:30 P.M. a lone black male suspect entered the Wachovia Bank located at 7627 Granby St. (Wards Corner). The suspect implied a weapon and threatened to harm the clerk if she did not give him money. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of United States Currency.
June 13, 2005 - Update on Three Weekend Murders
Norfolk Homicide Detectives are currently investigating three homicides that occurred over the weekend.
6/12/05 at approximately 1:30 A.M. Police responded to the 7600 Blk. Sheryl Drive in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival officers located the victim, Travis Nicholas Thornton, 26, 7600 Blk Sheryl Dr., inside his residence. Thornton was transported to SNGH where he died several hours later. Suspect/motive information unknown at this time. (Photo of victim to right) 6/12/05 at approximately 6:30 P.M. Police responded to the 500 Blk. Mariners Way in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival officers found the victim, Antonio Cofield, 17, 7100 Blk Sewells Point Rd., lying outside on the ground. Cofield was transported to SNGH where he died from his injuries a short time later. Suspect/motive information unknown at this time. 6/12/05 at approximately 11:30 P.M. Police responded to the 300 blk. Fort Worth Ave. in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival officers located the victim, Amol R. Bilal, 17, 1600 Blk. Madison Ave., lying outside on the ground. Bilal was transported to SNGH where he died a short time later from his injuries. Suspect/motive information unknown at this time. All three victims died from gunshot wounds. Detectives have no indication at this time that the three are related in any way. Anyone who may have information on these crimes is asked to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. FELONIOUS ASSAULTOn Tuesday, 5/17/05 Norfolk Police responded to the 2000 Blk of Kingston Ave. in reference to a reported home invasion. Upon arriving officers located an adult female victim that had been severely beaten. The victim remains hospitalized at this time. Investigators have determined that two subjects were seen running from the vicinity at the time of the assault. These subjects have been described as: 1) Light skinned Black or Hispanic male, late teens to early twenties, thin build, approximately 5’10” to 6’, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, dark pants and carrying a dark blue back pack. 2) Dark skinned black male, late teens to early twenties, approximately 5’8”, wearing a short sleeve gray t-shirt, dark blue shorts under his pants and carrying an object in his hands.Police Investigate Overnight Murder of Melvin Taylor
UPDATE 4/9/05: Investigators are seeking to Drenda C. Menser in reference to this incident. She is not considered a suspect but a person of interest. Menser is currently wanted in Virginia Beach for Misdemeanor Contempt of Court. She is described as a B/F, 32, 900 Blk. E. Virginia Beach Blvd. She is 4’11”, 150 lbs., Black hair and brown eyes. Police Investigate Burglary/Sexual AssaultMarch 21, 2005 - Norfolk Police responded to the 5700 Blk Carillo Ave. Shortly after 3:00 A.M. this morning in response to a reported sexual assault that occurred at that location. The initial investigation has determined that an unknown suspect entered the residence through an unlocked door. Once inside the suspect proceeded to sexually assault an adult female inside the residence before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. The victim did not require medical treatment. We are not releasing any of the details pertaining to what occurred inside the residence at this time. The victim has no affiliation/connection with Old Dominion University. The suspect has been described as a W/M late teens to early 20’s. 5’9”-6’ tall 150-160 lbs., thin build. He has dark bushy hair and was a dark colored shirt and blue jeans. The suspect was armed with an iron or steel rod at the time of the sexual assault. Additionally, the resident at a home next to the victim’s discovered that his house had been broken into sometime during the night. At this time we do not know if the two are related. WANTED in connection with the 6/21 /05 murder of Derrick Ellis, 15, in the 700 Blk A. Ave.:
Norfolk Homicide Detectives are currently investigating three homicides that occurred over the weekend.
Police are currently seeking information on the murder of Travis Jerome Jones, 24. Jones was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1700 Blk. Goodman St. on February 1, 2005 at approximately 11:00 P.M. He died a short time late at the hospital. The victim is pictured to the right.
Norfolk Police Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying an unknown suspect in connection with a robbery to the Shell Gas Station in the 3500 Blk. E. Princess Anne Road. The robbery occurred on Thursday, March 10th at approximately 3:00 P.M. No one was injured during the robbery.
March 4th, 2005 - Norfolk Police Homicide Investigators have made an arrest in connection with an unsolved murder from November 2004. On November 12th, 2004 at approximately 9:45 P.M. police were dispatched to a gunshot victim in the 900 Block of West 31st Street. Upon arrival they located a black male identified as Pernell R. Taylor B/M/29 suffering from gunshot wounds. Mr. Taylor was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced. On March 3rd, 2005 the grand jury issued indictments charging James Conrad Hunter Jr B/M/35 from Passaic New Jersey with the murder of Pernell Taylor. Hunter has been charged with First Degree Murder, Robbery and two counts of Use of a Firearm in the commission of a felony. Hunter is currently in custody on unrelated charges in another state. UPDATE: As of 3/29/05 the case remains an open investigation. No arrests have been made at this time, however, investigators continue to pursue various leads. The reward raised by an anonymous group for information leading to an arrest has increased to $7,500.00.
On January 28th, 2005 the body of Steve Christopher Calloway W/M 38 was found inside a vehicle in the parking lot of 351 San Antonio Blvd. Calloway was pronounced at the scene. The death of Calloway was determined to be a murder following a preliminary investigation. Investigators have identified Antreon Detrell Woodard, 19, 300 Blk. San Antonio Blvd as the individual responsible for Calloway’s death. Warrants are on file for Murder and Use of a Firearm. Woodard has been described as a B/M 5’9” tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds. Woodard should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. Anyone with information as to Antreon Woodard’s whereabouts is asked to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
November 13, 2004 at approximately 1643 hours, Police and Paramedics were called to 3800 Giles Circle on a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival units located a victim, later identified as Christian Taylor, W/M 24-years old. The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and was pronounced on November 14, 2004 at 0755 hours. The suspect is a black male and he was wearing hooded blue sweatshirt. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s black 1996 Nissan 200SX, bearing VA/06 tags 734-ADM. The vehicle was recovered on November 16, 2004 in the 1500 block of Chela Avenue. The investigation is being handled by Investigators B. E. Wray and W. A. Conway. On November 12, 2004 at approximately 2141 hours, Police and Paramedics were called to the 900 block of West 31st Street on a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival units located a victim, later identified as Pernell Taylor, B/M 29-years old. The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and was pronounced at 2215 hours. The victim was an events promoter at different venues in the area including Garry’s in the 1300 block of West Little Creek Road. The investigation is being handled by Investigators D. M. On February 9, 2004 at approximately 0545 hours, Police and Paramedics were called to 1401 Tidewater Drive on a report of an unconscious Female. Upon arrival units located a victim, later identified as Tamara Wilson, B/F 27-years old. The victim was pronounced on scene at 0552 hours. The victim had last been seen alive by her mother on February 8, 2004 between 2300 and 2400 hours. When she left the 1800 block of E. Lexington Avenue she was on foot and wearing a pink and red scarf, a curly black wig, a black coat with a red liner, black pants, and tan boots. The investigation is being handled by Investigators B. On January 24, 2004 at approximately 1725 hours, Police were called to DePaul Hospital on a report of an assault victim. The victim, later identified as Lionel Joyner, W/M 53-years old had been discovered by a friend at his residence, 1051 West Ocean View Avenue. The victim’s trauma was extremely severe and he was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment. The victim was pronounced on February 2, 2004 at 1857 hours. The investigation is being handled by Investigators S. A. Mayer and R. G. Ford. On January 16, 2004 at approximately 0108 hours, Police and Paramedics were called to the 1000 block of St. Julian Avenue on a report of a possible gunshot victim on the sidewalk. Upon arrival units located a victim, later identified as Vincella Thompson (AKA Panama), B/F 46-years old. The victim was pronounced on scene at 0115 hours. Two young black male suspects were seen fleeing the scene. The investigation is being handled by Investigators D. M. Peterson and G. C. Wall.
